The It's been almost 5 years since everyone's favourite rugged superhero from the Marvel Universe - Wolverine - appeared on the silver screen. But the wait will soon be over as Hugh Jackman is set to return as Wolverine in the third instalment of 'Deadpool'.

The film's lead actor Ryan Reynolds on Wednesday revealed that Hollywood star Hugh Jackman is returning as Logan aka Wolverine in 'Deadpool 3' which will hit the theatres in 2024.

The actor took to his social media platforms to share the good news with fans, in very Reynolds-Wade Wilson way with a video which shows the 'Deadpool' actor expressing how sad he is to have missed D23, referring to the Disney D23 Expo.

"Hey everyone, we're extremely sad to have missed D23, but we've been working very hard on the next 'Deadpool' film for a good long while now," Reynolds says in the video.

The 45-year-old further shares that he went soul searching to find the special moment that can mark the debut of this superhero (referring to Wolverine).

“I've had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning. Every ‘Deadpool' needs to stand out and stand apart," he adds.

Reynolds then says that he did have one idea to make 'Deadpool 3' different from the last two films in the franchise. At this moment, we see Jackman walking across the room in the background as Reynolds asks: "Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?"

Jackman, still casually walking away, replies in his typical not-so-bothered tone: "Yeah, sure. Ryan."
The video ends with the ‘Deadpool’ logo getting sliced up by Wolverine's claws.

The news of Jackman returning as Wolverine will surely hit a chord for several fans and bring back old memories as the actor has played the iconic role on screen for 17 years before bidding an emotional adieu to the character, the last of the X-Men, with the 2016 movie ‘Logan’.

‘Deadpool 3’ will be directed by Shawn Levy, who recently collaborated with Reynolds on ‘Free Guy’ and ‘The Adam Project’. "I want to take minute to thank #StrangerThings for training me to keep my big mouth shut. This news has been burning a hole in my lips for weeks now," Levy wrote on Twitter hours after Reynolds made the announcement. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of the first two ‘Deadpool’ films, have also penned the third instalment.

The upcoming third film in the 'Deadpool' franchise will mark Wolverine's entry in Marvel Cinematic Universe, result of 20th Century Fox's merger with Disney.
